Celebrating Service and Leadership: A Message from Lt. Governor Charlayne Bowman
Dear Kiwanis Family,
It’s been my deepest honor to serve as your Lt. Governor over all of our Division 44 Clubs throughout this 2023-2024 year. I have thoroughly enjoyed attending your meetings and events. Meeting with you on a one – one basis to discuss fundraising, membership, camaraderie, moreover, how can we do more for the children and their families. Every club has done tremendously, volunteering, donating and making a difference in their community. As we navigate through the vibrant path of service and leadership within our community, it is my distinct honor to share with you some remarkable moments and upcoming events that not only highlight our collective achievements but also underscore the impact we continue to make in the lives we touch.
Nonprofit of the Year Award: A Testament to Dedication In a splendid recognition of our unwavering commitment to service, the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael was bestowed with the prestigious Nonprofit of the Year Award by the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce. This accolade, celebrated at the 2024 Annual Awards Dinner on February 29th, is a reflection of their dedication, hard work, and the positive change we strive to bring into our community. It is a moment of pride for all of us and a testament to the ethos that Kiwanis stands for.
Mid-Year North Conference: A Gathering of Inspirational Leaders The recently held Mid-Year North Conference in Visalia was a cornerstone event that saw our Governor Carol presiding with grace over several clubs receiving well-deserved awards. It was my honor to deliver the inspirational remarks at the luncheon, a moment that I held close to my heart. The conference was great, not only for recognition, but also an opportunity for personal and professional growth through several interesting and informative workshops.
Governor Carol’s Official Visit: A Day of Fellowship We eagerly anticipated Governor Carol’s Official Visit, which took place in Natomas at the Heritage Park Clubhouse, located at 2481 Heritage Park Lane, Sacramento, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. This visit was an exceptional opportunity for us to come together in fellowship, share our progress, and discuss the ways we can further our impact within the community.
First-Time DCM Event: A New Chapter at Crystal Basin Winery on May 13th, we had our very first in- person Division Council Meeting (DCM). It was held for the first time at the scenic Crystal Basin Winery in Camino, hosted by the Sac Suburban Club. This event not only promised but delivered an enriching experience with wine tasting and food and fellowship. I was so pleased and amazed to receive so many positive comments, emails, phone calls to thank me for this fun event.
March in March: Volunteering for a Cause Let us not forget the importance of direct action and volunteerism in our mission. Our March in March event, which was held on March 2nd at the Kiwanis Family House, offered a chance to volunteer and support the Family House’s noble efforts in aiding children and families during their time of need. Your participation made a significant difference. Thank you all for your time, donations and fellowship during this rainy, cool morning.
Second DCM Event: On June 10th was held at the Canyon View Community Center in the beautiful foothills of Auburn. It was wonderful to see so many Kiwanians. A huge thanks to Gold Country Kiwanis Club for hosting it and Auburn Kiwanis Club for all their help with serving the delicious food prepared by their club. During this event we also were honored to hear from our Division 44 North and West Key Club Lt. Governors, Ashley Kim and Jasmine Yosef. Both outstanding speakers. With all the members in attendance we were able to raise $888.00 for their Convention. Again, thank you amazing Kiwanians for all your support.
There we voted in Placerville’s Kiwanian President, Sophie Cabrera as our Lt. Governor Elect, 2025-2026. I wish her all the best in her upcoming position. I know she will do great! Sophie will be following your 2024-2025 Lt. Governor Elect, Brian McLean who I also wish the best. I know you will all be in great hands with this leadership team.
As we look forward to yet another year let us continue to lead with compassion, serve with dedication, and inspire with our actions. Together, we are not just clubs; we are a family united in the service of children, families and our community.
In closing, I wish to offer a special thanks to my team, along with every one of you who supported me on this journey. I appreciate all the encouragement, enthusiasm and endless support you all provided to me, with special thanks to my secretary and confidant Karen Poskus.
