Celebrating Service and Leadership: A Message from Lt. Governor Sophie Cabrera
Hello Kiwanians,
We are one month into our new year and we are off to a wonderful start. November 9th was the first of many in-person DCMs and I want to thank all who attending for making it an enjoyable event. Getting back to in-person DCMs, reconnecting with fellow Kiwanians and sharing our successes and upcoming events is so important and I was thrilled to see that Every club was represented.
One of my goals this year is to strengthen the relationships with our Key Clubs and support their efforts as they serve our community. We were privileged to have the Key Club Division LTGs, Qin Liao, D44N; Scarlett Kim, D44W; Angelina Vong, D7S; and Ashley Kim, CNH District Membership Recognition Chair in attendance to meet us and provide updates and information on their plans for the year. We were joined by our Key Club Region 16 Advisors, Bruce Mercado and Rhomel “Nikko” Gallanosa who presented on the current state of Key Club in the Region.
Our key club LTGs are so impressive and I can’t help to be proud of their accomplishments, their dedication to service and willingness to step up and lead their clubs. They are our leaders today and undoubtably our leaders of tomorrow. They are so deserving of our support and I am asking that we be as generous as possible with our time and financial support.
Karen Poskus read an inspirational message at the DCM, “A pessimist sees a glass half-empty, an optimist sees a glass half-full, a volunteer see the glass and looks for someone who is thirsty”. That’s what you do, that’s who you are…Kiwanians.
As this year comes to a close and we reflect on what we have accomplished and the impact that we had to make the lives of others a little better and a bit easier, we are also reminded of how much more needs to be done. As the holiday season approaches in what are difficult time for many, I know that you will all continue to serve and look for those who are thirsty.
We will not have a DCM in December and I would like to thank all of you for the selfless work you do and wish you all a wonderful and joyous holiday season.
