Celebrating Service and Leadership: A Message from Lt. Governor Sophie Cabrera
Hello Kiwanians,
At the Mid-Year North Convention several of our Division 44 clubs were recognized for their dedicated work in 2024-2025. Auburn, Carmichael and Roseville achieved Distinguished Club Status. Receiving the Round Robin Patch for their inter-club efforts were Citrus Heights in the medium club category and Lincoln Foothills in the large club category. Congratulations to Brian McLean and the 2024-2025 club leadership teams for a job well done.
One of my goals this year was to get back to in-person meetings. DCM’s, interclub meetings, interclub opportunities with events and club fundraisers. I truly believe in the benefit of personal meetings and connections and have committed to more in person meetings for our Division. We had our first in person DCM in November of 2025 and based on the positive response was enthusiastic about going forward. We had zoom meetings in January and February and went back to in person in March. Auburn did a wonderful job hosting. Good food, a great speaker from the Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance and we got to meet the awesome young adults from the Placer Key Club. We have a division service opportunity to benefit Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance, stay tuned for more information.
I intend to continue with in person DCMs, with the occasional break for a zoom. Our April DCM will be on the 13th via zoom, and our May and June DCM’s will be in person hosted by Citrus Heights and Carmichael. DCM’s will be in local parks, great weather, a chance to get outdoors, get to meet the local SLP kiddos and then take the afternoon to explore an area of our division Our that you might not other wise see. Governor Steven Geraci will visit on June 7, 2026. We will co-host with Division 7 at Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, guaranteed to be a great time of fun with a bit of service.
Mid-year, 6 months in with 6 months to go. The work you’ve done in support of our kids and families is inspiring. I am excited to see how much more we will accomplish in the next 6 months.
